AP Labs Introduces New Compact PCI ATR Chassis

San Diego, Calif. - 26 October, 2006 Meeting new demands for small, low cost and light weight rugged enclosures for real time embedded systems, AP Labs has announced availability of the new FS-5973 conduction cooled ATR chassis. Up to five 3U Compact PCI cards are accommodated in a package weighing less than 10 pounds. The FS-5973 is designed to meet the growing requirements for adding new functionality to existing systems or replacing older legacy systems. In short, the FS-5973 is a low risk building block designed to deliver the genuine low cost of ownership that has become synonymous with AP Labs rugged enclosures.

The FS-5973 can be configured with outside cooling and mounting options that enable the same sub-system architecture to be repackaged and deployed throughout the full range of vetronic, naval and avionic applications. Inside, a pluggable power supply can be matched to differing input characteristics and internal loads. Even the I/O wiring is completely flexible in order to allow speedy adaptation to individual requirements and cost effective field support. As a result, flexibility permeates the design.

The new FS-5973 offers the following features:
  • Small form factor CompactPCI based rugged compute node
  • Width (4.88”), Height (5.59"), Length (11.46")
  • Weighs 9lbs without cards
  • 5 conduction-cooled 3U slots to PICMG 2-0 123.0, System slot and 4 spare slots for I/O and peripherals
  • High integrity brazed section chassis construction provides exceptional strength
  • Meets MIL-STD-5400 Class 1 Thermal Performance
  • Removable front I/O panel and rear panel for ease of maintenance
  • All panels fitted with EMC gaskets

  • Backed up by AP Labs extensive warranty and comprehensive life support services
